the ribbon at the neck is a stroke of genius!
I would think the light on the cheek would be more, because of the pearl's shine, but it doesn't matter. this is a fantastic piece!

i love the contrast between the smooth glowing almost transperant pearl, and the roughness of the background and figures. great work. :)

image has the feel of a Cleopatra portrait i like the way the ribbon come down from the hat and seems to loop round the shoulder and neck almost serpent like in its coils. Interesting expression in the eyes the way the figure seems to be unsure about what they are looking at perhaps suggesting that posing for a portrait is something they are uncomfortable or there is something behind the viewer.

IMO I'm not sure about the colouration of the lace work? on the hat the colour seems almost but not quite silvered, but that might b e the colour settings on my monitor. However don't think this is a major detail.
